Too Faced Candlelight Glow Highlighting Powder Duo Review + Swatches

When I think about makeup and how much I love it, certain brands always cross my mind. Too Faced has to be one of my top 10 favorite cosmetic brands of all times. Too Faced is that type of brand that brings perfection in every product they create, from creamy formulas, to dreamy shades, to adorable packaging. In other words, Too Faced always delivers and never disappoints. So for that reason, I like to always be on top of new product releases.

So, when I saw they had released a revamped version of their bestselling highlighter (I never tried the old version), and because of the fact that I love both Too Faced and highlighters, I immediately knew I had to get my hands on it. This is not a brand new product though, it was released as part of their 2016 Spring collection, I am just a little late at it.

There are currently two shades of this product available: Rosy Glow and Warm Glow. I decided to go for Warm Glow as I think this shade suits my skin tone better than the other.

Too Faced Warm Glow Candelight Glow

What is it?

The Candlelight Glow Highlighting Powder Duo is a highlighting powder powered by “Photolite” technology which claims to “diffuse and refract light for glowing, lit-from-within skin under all lighting conditions. Photolite technology ensures a camera-ready, professionally lit appearance anywhere you go.” (description taken from Too Faced website’s product description).

The Warm Glow shade consists of a light champagne/golden shade (Left) and a light-to-medium peach/golden shade (Right).

This product is formulated without, Paraben, Sulfates, Phthalates, Free of synthetic fragrances, Synthetic dyes, Petrochemicals, GMOs, Triclosan. In addition, All Too Faced products are cruelty-free. In other words, this product has all the good stuff we like, and none of the bad stuff we don’t like.

Formula & Packaging

The product comes in a plastic round compact with a standard snap closure that features a mirror for added convenience. As a result, it is perfect to use at home or on the go. It does not come with any type of brush and I really wish it did. The pan is divided in half to include the two shades: to the left you will find a a light champagne/golden shade and to the right you will find a light-to-medium peach/golden shade. The product itself is embossed with a beautiful chandelier as well as the brand’s logo to add a touch of elegance to the overall product design.

As for the formula, the powder is very fine in texture, applies smoothly and effortless when using the right brush giving you a seamless luminous finish. The powder pigmentation is amazing and you always have the option to layer it up for a more intense look which I really enjoy doing. This product does not contain any glitter, it does have a radiance which will give you a beautiful and luminous highlighting look that will amaze you when the light hits your skin.

What I enjoy the most about this highlighter is that it is a very versatile product that can be used in different ways depending on your mood or occasion. You can either wear each shade individually, or swirl you brush around to pick up both shades, or even wear it all over your face and your neck to give you an overall glowing radiance without being afraid of looking all glittery.

My favorite brushes to use with this highlighter are the Real Techniques fan brush and the setting brush. These brushes are incredibly efficient at picking up the right amount of product, and at blending it seamlessly, and not to mention how affordable they are. I should also mention that unlike other highlighting powders, this one has no fallout which is a great advantage and a total win win.

Price and Size

This product retails for $30.00 USD and you get .35 Oz. / 10 g of product. I personally feel like this product is worth every penny, just because you are getting two shades within one product and because of how beautiful they are. As a lover of non-glittery/shimmery highlighters, I can’t recommend this product enough. It is truly a product I believe many makeup lovers would absolutely love adding to their makeup collection. The Candlelight Glow Highlighting Powder Duo is available online at toofaced.com and at other stores such as Sephora and Macys.

  Swatches

Here are swatches of the left shade, the right shade, and both shades blended, with and without flash. I did the swatches using only my fingers and without using any type of primer. Please note that I did not alter or edited the swatches photos so that I could show the true shades.

Here is a look wearing both shades by swirling my brush around the compact. I wanted a little bit of a more intense highlighting look so using both shades is a great idea to achieve just that. You also have the option to use them individually for a more subtle natural glow, or use them all over your face to give your make up look a finishing touch of radiance without looking greasy, shinny, nor glittery, just radiant.

One downside to this product is that it does accentuate your pores a little bit if you happen to have large pores on your cheeks as I do. As you can see on the photo on the right, my pores look a little bit accentuated, but it does not bother me at all. I think the beautiful glow that you get from this highlighter is so worth it and overtakes any minor downside.

Overall, as a huge lover of the Too Faced brand and being a huge fan of highlighters in general, I love this highlighter that allows you to achieve an effortless sunny, flattering radiant look. Every makeup enthusiast needs this highlighter in their life so I highly recommend you to check it out.

As always, I would love to know your thoughts on this product. Have you tried this one or the Rosy Glow shade? Thank you so much for taking the time to read.

Lily, you look so gorgeous and if I can get the type of glow that you’re sporting in these photos, then I am SOLD! Having said that, I am a fan of Too Faced as well. Love their more natural formula and the fact that they’re cruelty free. I did own the old version of this highlighting duo many moons ago and really enjoyed it. Will definitely have to check out this revamped one! Looks so beautiful!

Loved the read and got me thinking why I haven’t got this yet, I love highlighters but never purchased one by too faced. I do think this is much nicer than the original though. I quite liked the payoff with the combination of both pigments, very very pretty and loved how it looked on you too., perfect luminosity on the cheekbones ❤️🌟
